ISIPHO PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION AND RECEPTION
Saturday, October 10, 3-5PM
Lo-Res_Isipho Photo Show Example
Hagedorn Foundation Gallery (map and directions)
From 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, the Hagedorn Foundation Gallery will present a powerful exhibition of photographs taken by 15-year-old Isipho Co-founder, Miranda Lynch on her inaugural trek to the remote Zulu village of Nzinga, South Africa.

Each of the eight color photographs taken by Miranda of Nzinga OVCs (Orphans and Vulnerable Children) will be paired with a black and white photograph taken by her father, Tom, of the starkly beautiful Nzinga landscape. Each set of photographs depicts the dichotomy of the beauty, strength and hope of the orphans, against the extreme poverty, high AIDS rate, and the harsh living conditions in Nzinga.

Admission is free. Fine South African wine will be served. All photographs will be for sale, and 100% of proceeds will benefit Isipho’s programs to provide educational support and food gardens in Nzinga.

We would like to thank Framing By Design for their wonderful framing of the photos, and David Smith for his help bringing them to life. Please consider them when you need frames or great professional photography.  Finally, we would like to express our deep gratitude to the Hagedorn Foundation Gallery for allowing us this opportunity.  They have been extremely generous in donating their gallery space to us and advising us along the way.

SOUTH AFRICAN WINE TASTING

Thanks to everyone who was able to come to the South African Wine Tasting for Isipho. The weather was beautiful, the wines were amazing, the food fantastic, and the conversation was wonderful.

We would like to thank the following for making the evening a great success:

Boschendal, Bellingham, and Douglas Green wineries for the delicious wines, and to Greg Mueller of Cape Wine Ventures, who imports these great South African wines in the U.S.

Decatur Package Store. Herb is offering the wines we tasted at his store, and is going to donate a portion of the proceeds to Isipho from each bottle sold. Please visit the store and ask for the wines pisipho-wine-tasting-2009_1oured at the Isipho Wine Tasting.

Avalon Catering. As always, they are just the best. Great food, mood-setting African decor, and the easiest, nicest people you could work with.

Special thanks to David and Kellum Smith for hosting the event at their beautiful home in historic Druid Hills. They are dear friends and wonderful hosts.

Based on the turn-out and the feedback, it looks like the South African Wine Tasting will be a risipho-wine-tasting-2009_21egular Isipho event. Thanks for making it such a memorable evening.
