About Isipho
Isipho (i-SEE-po) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2008 by then 13-year-old Miranda Lynch in order to do everything she could to
improve the lives of the people of Nzinga, South Africa.
When Miranda first visited the very remote Zulu village of Nzinga in 2008, she was moved by the extreme poverty, malnutrition, the lack of educational opportunities for children her age, and also by the warmth and strength of the people there in facing these difficulties.
When she left Nzinga, Miranda vowed to do all she could to change that inequality; to do everything possible to give Amahle and every other child in Nzinga the opportunities every person deserves.
Isipho provides the training and tools needed so that villagers in Nzinga can begin to grow their own vegetables, reducing the stunting, birth defects, learning disabilities and illnesses brought on by severe and chronic malnutrition. Isipho also supports the schools in Nzinga with materials and teacher training, so that literacy, school attendance and graduation rates improve.
